Excursions – Guided Canoe Trips in Wyre Forest

If you love being on the water, our excursions are the perfect way to see the forest from a new angle. We organise short and long paddles that suit beginners and experienced paddlers alike. Each trip is led by a local guide who knows the safest routes, the best spots for wildlife, and where to find calm water when the wind picks up.

What to Expect on a Wyre Forest Excursion

We start each outing at the same meeting point by the riverbank. After a quick safety check, you’ll get a brief rundown of the route. The guide points out hazards, like low bridges or shallow spots, so you can stay comfortable. Most trips last between 2 and 4 hours, giving you plenty of time to paddle, snap photos, and enjoy a coffee break on a quiet stretch of water.

Gear is simple: a sturdy canoe or kayak, a paddle, a personal flotation device, and a waterproof bag for your phone or camera. If you don’t have your own gear, we have a fleet of well‑maintained boats you can rent on the day. Dress for the weather – a quick‑dry shirt, waterproof shoes, and a hat go a long way.

How to Join Our Next Trip

Signing up is easy. Head to the Wyre Forest Paddlers site, click the “Excursions” tab, and pick the date that works for you. We ask for a brief health questionnaire – just to make sure everyone stays safe. Once you’re confirmed, you’ll get an email with the start time, meeting spot, and a short packing checklist.

We welcome newbies. If it’s your first time on a canoe, the guide will show you how to sit, paddle, and turn. You’ll learn basic techniques like the forward stroke and the reverse stroke, which are useful for navigating tight bends. By the end of the day you’ll feel more confident on the water and probably want to book the next outing.

Our excursions are more than just a paddling session. They’re a chance to meet fellow enthusiasts, share stories, and discover hidden parts of the forest that aren’t reachable by foot. Many participants come back month after month because they love the mix of exercise, nature, and community.

Ready to give it a try? Grab a friend, check the calendar, and join us for a relaxed paddle on the river. You’ll leave feeling refreshed, with new skills and maybe a few new friends added to your list.
