Right i have been talking to the guys at the tryweryn and they have said BCU affiliated club paddlers will on club trips be able to pay the £5 whether they have a personal BCU membership or not. This will only happen if the club books the trip in advance, atleast one day in advance. this booking needs to include names of the paddlers. 

I can see several issues with this but please discuss. I am going to talk to the person there again on thursday. Comments ???

Food for thought here and thanks, Chucky, for taking the trouble to find this out. The Centre has clearly realised that without this concession the cost of club paddling would just be prohibitive. For me, it doesn't alter the fact that the principle of open access is fatally compromised, but from a Club perspective at least the option to paddle there remains just about viable if people are willing to plan and commit in advance.
